Help toward home ownership

Posted May 17, 2016

Before you buy into Dundalk (21222 or County 21224), meet with the HUD-certified housing counselors at Southeast CDC, HARBEL Housing, NHS of Baltimore or Diversified Housing Development. Register for a Home Buyer Education Workshop for Baltimore County buyers, and then complete your one-on-one counseling for certification before you make an offer on a home. With your certification, you’ll be qualified, depending on your specific situation, for down payment and closing cost assistance programs from DRC, as well as Maryland State and Baltimore County programs.

Our DRC Home Buyer Grants require you to earn your certification and attend one of our home buyer events before you make an offer on a home. If you missed our April 9 Dundalk Housing Fair, our spring and summer Neighborhood Close Ups on May 21 and June 18 satisfy that attendance requirement, and registration for the May 21 Close Up is still open – we’d love to see you! Registration for the next SE CDC class opens this Friday, May 20, online. Don’t delay – the classes fill very quickly for all of the counseling agencies. For more information about our grants and the contact info for the counseling agencies, click here.

We also have 3 beautiful, affordable renovations on the market now – and our special soft second mortgage financing is a real help to families whose income is below 80% of the Area Median Income. Again, the home buyer certification is a requirement (though attendance at one of our home buyer events is not), and you will learn more here.

Call us at 410-282-0261 for more information about our DRC Home Buyer Grants or our renovations with the soft second mortgage, and you’ll have the information you need to get ready to buy into 21222.
